Sarah began her career in journalism, earning her M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University. Prior to transitioning to public relations, she worked on the producing teams for CBS on “20th Century with Mike Wallace”, the award-winning “NBC News Special Reports” and as an on-camera TV reporter for local stations in New York and California.
Sarah worked in-house for both public and private companies before moving agency side. She advised tech startups with The Blueshirt Group before joining SHIFT Communications to work with retail, food & beverage, and cybersecurity clients. In 2018, Sarah launched her own PR agency, Segal Communications which was quickly acquired in 2021 to become a division of The Messina Group founded by revered Obama campaign manager Jim Messina.
Sarah founded Segal Communications with the purpose of fostering a community that sought new methods, developed new paths, and helped clients meet and exceed their communications goals. She has created a company environment that celebrates the wins, champions new ideas, and nurtures creative thinking. Sarah thrives on operational processes and is well-regarded for her drive to find creative solutions that are unique to each client. She is rarely satisfied with the expected and is always working to improve upon proven methods and strategies.
Sarah is a member of the PR Council, the San Francisco Public Relations Round Table, PRSA, and the Forbes Communication Council. A Boston native, Sarah lives in Marin, CA with her husband Ben, a creative director, two children, a Dalmation and a Treeing Walker Coonhound. Sarah is a news junkie who also immensely enjoys news satire. On her days off, she spends time with her family and dogs walking the beaches of Monterey County.
Sarah leads operations for Segal Communications. With a background in public relations and strong project management skills, Sarah joined Segal Communications early on and has been instrumental in the overall growth and success of the agency. She is a native of Northern California and has lived throughout the Bay Area in San Jose, San Francisco and Sonoma County. Sarah is an experienced event planner, resource manager and client manager. She oversees all team and client operational needs and ensures all company deadlines and details. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, cooking, attending music festivals, and traveling.
Emily is passionate about bringing clients' visions to life and implementing new strategies to showcase their products or services to the world. At Segal Communications, Emily supports media relations, projects, and campaigns for tech and B2B clients. She has quickly become the awards guru, most notably assisting a client in winning a Stevie American Business Award. Her attention to detail, ability to adapt quickly, organizational skills, and proactive mindset have been a great asset to the Segal team. Emily is from Southern California and now resides in San Francisco. Outside of the office, she enjoys active outdoor activities like hiking, paddle boarding, and biking.
Social Media Manager
Sara leads the social media team at Segal Communications. Sara joined the agency in 2020 with the task of establishing a social media division for the company to complement the company’s public relations work. Equipped with a background in creative services and photography from her days working with the San Francisco Giants, Sara built a department from scratch that now provides the day-to-day management of numerous clients supported by a team of specialists. Her clients range from B2B technology providers to consumer foods and recognized thought leaders. She is admired for her eye for style and aptitude for data. She is behind the spike in overall engagement rates and notable growth of clients’ channels. Her primary responsibilities include strategizing campaigns, working with clients to identify goals and benchmarks, and finding new ways to improve and elevate the work Segal delivers. Originally from San Diego, Sara currently resides in Sonoma County. Outside of work, she loves to travel, attend concerts, and sip on a craft cocktail from nearby restaurants.
SOCIAL MEDIA & CONTENT COORDINATOR
Monet assists the Social Media Manager in content creation and helps maintain clients’ voices across social media platforms through copywriting and community engagement. During college, she was Editor In Chief of her school’s newspaper, where she managed a team of students, edited all content, managed production, and led the paper’s social media accounts. Since joining Segal, Monet has produced content and created organizational practices to help improve the social media program. Monet’s time management and organizational skills keep her working efficiently throughout the day and on the Social team. Her daily duties include monitoring client social media channels, engaging with relevant accounts, and maintaining content calendars. She was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, and outside of the office, Monet enjoys taking her dog on walks, traveling with her family, and reading.
Senior Account Executive
Cori helps individuals and companies share their stories with the right audiences. She comes from a media background, having worked at WGBH in Boston and KQED in San Francisco. She most recently led the communications team at one of the Bay Area's oldest and largest social service nonprofits. Cori is based in San Francisco, where she was born and raised. A versatile and skilled storyteller, she has won two New England Emmys and a Shorty Award. Her daily duties include pitching, creating strategies for campaigns big and small, and ensuring client satisfaction. Outside the office, Cori can typically be found cooking while listening to podcasts or taking a dance class.
Yasmine, also known as “Yas,” supports the administrative, operational and accounting needs of Segal clients. With advanced certifications in accounting, business management and finance, Yas works on defining and further streamlining systems that guarantee internal and external deadlines are met. From contracts, to project budgets and scheduling, her work is instrumental to keeping a hybrid team in sync. She is a native of NorCal, but now resides in SoCal with her family.
Writer & Content Producer
Justin Kraemer writes content and edits video for Segal Communications with a specialty in social media from the wheat and sorghum fields of central Kansas. Justin comes to Segal after an award-winning career in journalism. He has a proven track record of telling stories that capture their audience's attention and imagination. Justin is always looking for new ways to promote his clients by tying their stories to what people are talking about today. In his spare time, Justin enjoys playing superheroes with his toddler, dodging attacks from his two dogs and pair of kittens, and tending to his flock of chickens.
Stephanie Yang is a senior media relations strategist who works with Segal Communications clients to develop campaign plans that meet defined client metrics. Stephanie specializes in impactable message development that drives earned media coverage for B2B and B2C brands. Stephanie began her career in the advertising and film industry before establishing an independent consultancy that partners with established agencies like Segal. In addition to working with start-ups and nationally recognized technology brands, she is well-known for her message-driven executive speaking and media training consulting. If not immersed in the latest tech news coming out of Silicon Valley, Stephanie can be found on the main stage as a keynote or panelist, or moderator. Stephanie graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Political Science and lives in San Francisco.
